I was born and raised in Rovaniemi, Finland, and later moved to Romssa/Tromsø in Northern Norway, where I now live and work. ROADS has evolved over half a decade from my long-standing interest in roads, routes, and pathways — not only as symbols of the human desire for connection, but as lines that both embrace and defy linearity. The latter, the seeming unruliness of roads and pathways that remain after their original purpose has faded, as well as the emergence of pathways as a more-than-human process, points to an agential capacity that I find both theoretically and artistically interesting. This is the fulcrum of ROADS: turning our attention both to the afterlives of roads and pathways bearing the traces of human intentions and to pathways made, maintained, and remembered by our more-than-human kin.

My work as a storyteller, writer, and researcher is situated within the field of Environmental Humanities and centres on collective processes of knowledge production within more-than-human, mobile worlds. Throughout my journey in academia, I have been crafting decolonizing storytelling practices within landscapes that have been overshadowed by univocal narratives. I believe that such practices can evoke and revive the often forgotten, silenced, or disregarded histories of landscapes.

My work draws from feminist posthumanisms and Indigenous ontoepistemologies and is inspired by the work of artists and filmmakers. Working with film, photography, and music is central to how I engage with research.

Fun fact: I am also a passionate everyday CrossFitter and a coach for both individuals and groups in the world of fitness.
