Our lives are shaped by the paths that connect us. Roads and pathways are therefore essential, not only for the movement of tangible matter (including us humans), but also for stories, ideas, aspirations, and values to travel.

Our common association of roads with modern, efficiency-enhancing infrastructure is both valid and incomplete. While it highlights active, widely recognised roads that appear in dominant cartographies, it often overlooks the value and continued importance of old, bypassed, repurposed or alternative pathways that remain part of the landscapes we inhabit.

It also fails to recognise the subtle lines and routes that emerge through, and sustain, the movements of our more-than-human kin.

What happens when we attune to such pathways through research and art?
